3rd August 2018 - Telc Czech Republic

Kms today  = 556
Kms to date = 6,195

We discovered that the breakfast was included  with our mozzie infested room so we had a very nice cooked breakfast before we left Schwangau. We had to do around 520 kms in the day to get to Telc in the Czech Republic so we headed for the Autobahn and hammered down the  road. The weather was still hot. When we started off at 8am it was 21C but soon it was up around 28-30C. When we crossed the border into the Czech Republic and Mabel tried to take short cuts using minor roads we started to hit problems with closed roads because they were being repaired. They can only repair roads in the summer as the winters are so harsh. After a couple of false turns and retracing our route we managed to find a road sign that said Telc this way!!. We arrived at the accommodation at 4:30pm. Danny's bike was there but no Danny. He had ridden from Prague. The landlady spoke no English so I called him. He was in the old town having a cold beer. We unloaded our bikes whilst Danny came back to the house. The apartment is quite big with two bedrooms, separate toilet, separate shower and eating area with a table and chairs. Danny told us that it was a Czech custom that you take off your shoes before entering the bedroom.  Colin and I changed into shorts and walked back into the old town with Danny. The walk wasn't that long and took you across a picturesque bridge over a lake. The old buildings around the lake were reflected in the still water as there wasn't a breath of wind.
Buildings reflected in the lake as we walked the bridge.

Reflections on other side of bridge.
The old town had a cobblestone square with the mandatory statue of a saint to protect the locals from the plague.

A couple of plagues in front of their memorial!
Round the edge of the square were cafes and restaurants. We chose one that served Czech food  (some were serving pizza etc ). We had a great meal washed down with Czech beer. After dinner we did a tour of the rest of the square. There was a kind of fair going on at one end and a concert in the church.
A couple of egits in front of house painted in trompe-l'oeil.

We walked back to the flat and planned our route  to the Brno circuit for tomorrow. Google maps told us that there were a few closed roads on our preferred route. Mabel said the quickest way was to head for the freeway even though it was 110kms v 90kms for the more direct route. Breakfast is included with the room so we ordered it for 7:30am and hit the sack.
