1st August 2018 - Freiburg

Kms today = 501
Kms to date 5,305

We had an early start and had breakfast in Digoin about 100kms down the road. We found a very traditional bar/restaurant beside the canal and had a very traditional French brekkie including  our coffee in bowls not cups. Digoin was  big in the canal business 100 years ago.
After a few detours into towns we wanted to pass, we realised the waypoints have to be removed on this GPS as you pass them. We ended up in a historic town called Pesmes for lunch. We sat under the trees on the bank of a river in a very pretty location. There were 4 motorcycles there all ready and they showed us where to park. Lunch was good and we both had escargots.

A well fed biker.

The rest of the journey was uneventful if tiring. 500kms is my limit on these roads. The scenery  consisted of fields interspersed with forests, very picturesque. It was quite hard to find our hotel as it was part of a large sporting complex with, soccer, tennis, a gym; even beach volleyball. We had a few beers and something to eat and watched the local  American Football team train.
