Race day at the Red Bull Ring.
The view of the mountains from the"Cowshed".
Weather fine and sunny. Up early and headed for Treiben for breakfast at our favorite petrol station. Then we took highway 114 through the mountains to the Red Bull Ring in Speilberg. We couldn't get to our parking area (general admission - green) the way we did yesterday. The police were redirecting traffic all over the place. We went round in circles until we met a policeman who spoke english and told us how to get to our parking area. We eventually arrived there but by the time we had changed into our shorts etc and made the fifteen minute walk to the track we had missed the Moto3 race. Jirka Broz said he would meet us at the North Stand near our viewing area. He called again to say he would meet us after the Moto2 race. Danny and I watched the race through a mesh fence. Luckily we had a screen right in front of us. Colin went back to his favorite spot close to the corner before the straight to take photos through the mesh fence. We met Jirka after the Moto2 race but he couldn't get us passes to the paddock like Brno so Colin went back to his spot and Danny and I walked up the grassy bank allocated to us 'plebs', got something to eat and sat down in our Aldi camp chairs to watch the MotoGP. Unfortunately the track was obscured by another grassy bank and we could only see the bikes as they came out of the corner, not going into it. Very unsatisfactory.
This was our view of the track!!

Danny checking the back of his eyelids!!
Luckily I had the "live timing" on Colin's MotoGP App and we also had a screen in front of us. We all agreed afterwards that you have to buy a stand ticket if you want any kind of view at the Red Bull Ring. After the race we waited to see the Red Bull Rookies race as Jirka Broz had a young Czech rider, Filip Salac (16 years old) in it. He came 4th after dicing for the lead on numerous occasions. He is fourth in the series behind two turkish boys and a spaniard. There was a young Aussie (16) called Billy Van Eerde from Singleton in the race. This is his first year and he came 17th out of 24 riders.
After the race we headed back to Treiben through the mountains again. The scenery was spectacular in the sunshine. This time the police were very co-operative and we got away on the route we wanted. We decided to have dinner in Treiben because it was bigger than Wald am Schoberpas and would probably accept a credit card. No such luck. We ate in a Pizzeria and they wanted cash. The food was great but unfortunately we ate in an outside area with people smoking like chimneys. We went back to the Cowshed, had a few beers, watched some more of the  European Athletic championships on TV and hit the sack.
