10th July 2018 - Buxton and Cawood

Kms today = 426
Cumulative kms = 560

Left Twyford at 7.00am hopefully to beat the morning traffic.
The intrepid travellers about to set off.

Fanged up the motorway including, much to Colin's chagrin the M6 tollway. Cost all of A$3. Arrived in Buxton which is in the Peak district of the Pennines at around 11am. The weather was perfect with bright sunshine and temps in the low 20s. Met my friend from my BBC days, Jim McGlynn and one of his grandaughters Mia in the Waitrose carpark. We headed for the nearest coffee shop for a heart starter.

Mia, Jim and yours truly enjoying the sunshine.

The Buxton International Festival was on and Jim's wife Angie was singing with a local choir in the Speigeltent so we went to see her perfom. Very good. After the concert we went back to their house and Angie served up a great lunch.

We left their place around 4pm and headed to Cawood near York over the Pennines. Spectacular scenery. We were staying with Colin's RC30 friend Ian Clint. He has everything that opens and shuts for the Honda RC30 and Colin just drooled. Ian was great host and treated us royally. We went to an Italian restaurant for dinner at 8pm!!
